Chartered Institute of Sport
There is excellent news on the progress towards the creation of the Chartered Institute of Sport. The Project Working Group (PWG) comprised of three members of both the ISPAL and ISRM boards has received feedback from the Privy Council advising that a submission of the Formal Petition and Charter & Statutes would be a very worthwhile process, providing that several points of detail can be addressed in the interim. These focus on some procedural points relating to the clear demonstration of public benefit and closer liaison and consultation with a small number of key stakeholder organisations with whom the CIS would be working closely with in the future.
There is still a lot of ground work to cover; with of course, the most important point of communicating all of detailed proposals and recommendations to both ISPAL and ISRM members in order for them to subsequently vote on the resolutions.
If all of the above work proceeds satisfactorily, this vote could take place in early autumn 2010 with the potential to have the new Institute in place by the end of December 2010. Watch this space!
